Pharmaceutical Formulation & Drug Delivery

Transforming APIs into Robust, Patient-Centric Pharmaceutical Products

At HSP Research Group LLP, we provide science-driven pharmaceutical formulation and drug-delivery development services focused on converting active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) into stable, effective, manufacturable, and patient-friendly dosage forms.

Our formulation scientists apply principles of preformulation, pharmaceutics, biopharmaceutics, Quality by Design (QbD), DoE-based optimization, and drug-delivery science to develop formulations aligned with the intended route of administration, therapeutic objectives, patient needs, and regulatory expectations.

Our development approach integrates API–excipient compatibility, formulation screening, process optimization, critical quality attributes (CQAs), critical material attributes (CMAs), critical process parameters (CPPs), in-vitro performance testing, stability evaluation, scale-up, and technology transfer.

Formulation Development & Drug Delivery

At HSP Research Group LLP, we focus on pharmaceutical formulation development and advanced drug-delivery solutions designed to improve product performance, stability, manufacturability and patient convenience.

Our approach integrates API characterization, preformulation studies, excipient compatibility, formulation optimization, in-vitro evaluation, stability assessment, scale-up and technology transfer.

Our Formulation & Drug Delivery Expertise

  • Oral & Solid Dosage Forms

Development of tablets, capsules, granules, powders, dry syrups, orodispersible formulations, taste-masked products and solubility-enhanced systems.

  • Topical, Transdermal & Semisolid Formulations

Formulation development of creams, gels, ointments, lotions, emulsions, topical solutions and transdermal delivery systems, with focus on stability, viscosity, drug release and skin compatibility.

  • Liquid Formulations

Development of oral solutions, suspensions, syrups, drops, emulsions and other specialized liquid formulations, subject to product requirements and available capabilities.

  • Modified & Controlled-Release Systems

Design and optimization of sustained-release, extended-release, delayed-release, matrix-based, multiparticulate and gastro-retentive drug-delivery systems.

  • Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS)

Research into polymeric, mucoadhesive, microsphere, microparticle, lipid-based, vesicular and site-specific delivery approaches to address formulation challenges.

  • Nanoformulations

Exploration of nanoparticles, nanocrystals, nanosuspensions and lipid-based nanosystems, with relevant characterization of particle size, stability, drug loading and release performance.

  • Liposomes & Phytosomes

Development-oriented research into liposomal and phospholipid-based systems for pharmaceutical actives and selected botanical compounds.

  • Nanoemulsions & Nanogels

Investigation of advanced dispersed and polymeric systems for drug solubilization, stability, localized delivery and controlled-release applications.

  • Targeted & Specialized Drug Delivery

Exploration of site-specific, nasal, pulmonary, inhalation, mucosal and other specialized delivery strategies, depending on project scope and technical requirements.

Our Formulation Development Approach

We follow a structured development pathway:

API Characterization → Preformulation → Excipient Screening → Formulation Development → Optimization (DoE/QbD) → In-vitro Evaluation → Stability Studies → Scale-Up → Technology Transfer

Key activities may include drug–excipient compatibility, prototype development, dissolution and release testing, packaging compatibility, process optimization, pilot-batch support and technical documentation.

Formulation Development Across Delivery Routes

Our research interests span multiple delivery routes and dosage forms, including:

Oral | Topical | Transdermal | Pulmonary/Inhalation | Nasal | Parenteral | Ophthalmic | Mucosal | Advanced Drug Delivery

Project scope and specific capabilities are assessed according to the formulation, infrastructure and technical requirements.

From Concept to Product Development

We aim to develop formulations that are scientifically justified, stable, reproducible and suitable for scale-up.

Our development approach addresses challenges such as poor solubility, low bioavailability, drug instability, dissolution limitations, controlled release, patient compliance and manufacturing scale-up.
